started investigating this at 11:34 am PT today!

What does the patch release date have to do with them just starting to
investigate the Blaster worm a day late? Hell, if you want to go tit
for tat on how long, what about the seven years & 4 OSs it took to fix
this buffer overrun? What about Windows Server 2003 being the first OS
released under the banner of "Trustworthy Computing," but still being
released with this problem?

Hi,

Microsoft released the patch that will prevent infection almost a month ago
(July 16, 2003). It's not their fault that some users have not installed it
and protected themselves. All anyone can do at this point is address the
damages it is causing.

The only reason it wasn't fixed earlier was because no one knew about it.
It was only discovered recently or it wouldn't have made it into 2000 XP and

No! It's time MS stops making patch work quilts! Most computer users
can't even organize their Start Menus, let alone manage plugging all the
holes in MS's swiss cheese software, and for what people have to pay for
MS software, MS needs to take greater responsibility for their defective
products!

Yes, MS waits for others to find their holes for them! When was the
last time MS found and fix an existing security hole in a product
already unleashed on the mostly computer-illiterate public that MS
discovered on their own?
It was only discovered recently or it wouldn't have made it into
2000 XP and 2003.

And if The Last Stage of Delirium Research Group didn't find it for MS,
it would have probably been released in Longhorn too! When is
"Trustworthy Computing" gonna become proactive security initiative
instead of exclusively reactionary one?

They do check the software for security holes. Patches are released to "fix
this" and "fix that" without any other group finding it.

If LSD didn't find this one, you're right, it probably would make it into
Longhorn. Unless someone else found it, or Microsoft did. It's not like
Microsoft just said "well, it isn't our problem" - no, they worked with LSD
to make a patch

Then, I'm confused as to your use of '27-28 days, ago' versus '27'. Or,
have you completely left behind the grasping of calender days? Doesn't take

subtraction.
