I have the MSN which comes with Outlook Express, but recently downloaded the
latest version 6.1. Now I have 2 MSN's popping up on the screen. I have
managed to control the original MSN off the system tray, but every now and
again I get a msg to say "you have signed to another computer" and then I
get another message to say "you have left .msn messenger to sign to another
one" (these msgs are not accurate as they appear and disappear too quickly
for me to type them up!) It seems to swing from one MSN version to another
and drives me up the wall. Naturally I want to keep the newer version. How
can I get rid of the earlier version?. There is no uninstal feature, nor
can I see it in "Add/remove programs"

go>start\run and type in msconfig. Now click the startup
tab and uncheck any boxs beside msmgs and BackWeb and then
MSN Messenger will only start when you click it's little
icon. Be sure that in the configuration for MSN Messenger
you have unchecked any boxs that tell it to start at
windows bootup or when windows is started. Options are
usually on the tool bar at the top under tools or such.
Keep smiling.

Thanks, "The Unknown P". I had already done that. Neither of them "start
up" I just call up MSN 6.1 when Im ready.
The messages Im getting are "You have been signed out of .net messenger
because you have signed in at another location". and " You have signed in
to Messenger on another computer. Click here to sign in again." It
switches back and forth all the time. I do have 6.1 on my laptop which
is linked, but that has to be called up, and isnt even on line when I get
these messages. Its beginning to haunt me!
