MSN or Windows Messenger?

I'm confused. I thought that MSN Messenger is for all windows versions other
then XP and Windows Messenger is for XP only. I just checked on the
Microsoft site and it says that MSN messenger is for XP as well, but when I
install MSN messenger on XP I get both.

Does MSN messenger have something that the windows xp version does not have?

Thanks,

They are separate (and not entirely compatible) products from separate
groups at Microsoft. Like anything labelled MSN (compare MSN Internet
Explorer) it adds bells and whistles that they think would attract a
'consumer' market. If you find you *want* some of those, keep MSN
Messenger - and there are ways of uninstalling the Windows one.

I just got MSN Messenger, and Windows Messenger won't go away. I
"Add/Removed" (removed) it, but it still runs at startup (even though I
changed that in my Windows Components), and I have to manually sign in to MSN
Messenger. I can't just delete the files, so do you know what to do?
