MSN Messenger6 and windows messenger 4.7

I am trying to voice video with family in another state. I had been using
MSN 5. something and that would work with a friend here in TX. When I would
connect to my family in NJ I could send and receive video fine and I could
hear them fine but they would not hear me. So I updated to MSN 6 and he did
the same. After that we still had the same problem. Then just minutes later
without changing anything I connected with my friend here and voice worked
fine both ways but video said he needed to update to ver.6. So he did and
then he could get my video but no audio.

I am on DSL with a Linksys UPNP router.

Any ideas?
 
I have exactly the same problem.
Both computers have working mic and speakers, tested in the audio tuning
wizard.
They can hear me, I can't hear them. Both on MSN 6.
