MSN Messenger vs. Norton AntiVirus

I have to turn off Norton's checking for viruses in MSN Messinger messages
because of incompatibility. I tried Norton's fix procedure without success.
Anybody got a solution? Failing that, can I remove MSN Messenger from my
startup, i.e., disable it without fouling up something else? (I very rarely
use it anyway, and wouldn't miss it.)

So why do you have it installed,unless you subscribe to msn,and run msn
explorer (what msn messenger is for running on) an ISP,uninstall msn,and
run windows messenger,default for xp.

If you use MSN Messenger, I would certainly get rid of Norton AntiVirus
"FIRST". There are many that do not cause errors with MSN Messenger.

MS certainly makes removing the default "on" Messenger from WinXP a tough
process, but at least they offer instructions:
