MSN Messenger toolbar Icons in IE6

Ulrich Bentin

I just re-installed my Windows XP Pro SP2 and then updated the Messenger to
v6.2. In IE6 normally there should be a MSN toolsbar including some shortcut
icons, which are missing in my IE. I only have the MSN search bar, but no
icons.

Before this, in my old XP SP1 installation, i also updated to MSN messenger
6.2 and also had no icons in the toolbar. Some days later i applied XPSP2.
Now i had the toolbar icons shown in IE ... so they seems to be existing ;)

What can i do to get the IE to show the icons?

Ulrich

Greetings Ulrich,

Just close all current open Internet Explorer windows, then download and run this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/msn6_ietoolbar.reg

After this, reopen Internet Explorer.

Hello Jonathan,

thank you for your help.
Because i'm using the german edition of Windows XP, i changed "\Program
files" into "\Programme" in the .reg file and imported this into my
registry. But it did not work. The icons are not shown in my Internet
Explorer.
Meanwhile i downloades MSNToolBarSetup_de.exe from microsoft.com and tried
to install the toolbar again, but the setup fails. I never got a success
message from the install tool.
Also reinstalling the MSN Messenger does not help. (the setup works, but no
changes in my toolbar).

Regards,
Ulrich
