MSN messenger reloading

Hey,

I have 2 computers and msn messenger reloads everytime I
connect to the internet even though I kill it in task
manager. It slows down my broadband connection and locks
up the Internet Exploer if I'm on a dial up like someone
is accessing my computer.

I've been working on this for 3 months, have reformatted
drives, have Norton Antivirus and Norton Internet Security
and had taken it to Compusmart tech support to no avail.
After it reloaded itself I returned it to them and they
proceded to delete any trace of it(2 hrs) only to have it
reappear once I returned online. After further expense it
was thought it was due to a CMOS virus and the battery was
removed and it sat for 3 days, then reformatted and
reloaded only to happen again.

I am out of ideas and options as to how this can happen to
both my computers after reformatting them, loading the
antivirus, blocking all cookies, Max privacy, Max security
before I connect to the internet, then connect and upgrade
my Internet Explorer with SP1, remove/disable msn
messenger only to have it reappear.

Any help ideas are appreciated Thanks,

One thing that doesn't seem to be addressed by the above links is that
if you turn on Norton's checking of MSN Messenger traffic, then Norton
will start MSN Messenger ... otherwise it couldn't monitor its
traffic??? :( So you need to turn off Norton for MSN Messenger, as
well as the other changes above, perhaps.

In my mind, this just shows that Norton (the Symentec company, not the
man) has become an idiot... if the stupid MSN Messenger is not running,
there is no need to start it to monitor the traffic... just monitor
whether or not it starts, and if it it does, then monitor the traffic...
