MSN Messenger - problems logging in

I have windows XP MSN messenger land I used to be able to login fine through
my Norton Internet security 2004 firewall then suddenly stopped logging in,
saying password or username may be incorrect - they are not and I can login
fine on someone else's PC. It is definitely the firewall, if I turn it off it
logs in fine. I have made sure the MSN program is permitted through the
firewall. I have not allowed any MS updates that would have changed anything,
does anyone know why I suddenly can't get through my firewall to login to
messenger - version is messenger 5.0.

You probably need to make an advanced rule to allow your
messenger access , also you probably need to remove act
as a server ... Now i don't know which firewall you are
using but i would see whether you can go to whomever
firewall it is website and get some tech support on it

I am using Norton Personal Firewall 2004, and have just spent an hour going
through Symantec help - absolutely no help whatsoever. As regards setting up
a rule the f/wall automatically recognised MSN prog and setup a rule to
always permit - not sure what you mean by remove Act as server though?

Thanks for the response..
