MSN Messenger doesn't work with windows Vista?

Hi all, well I bought a laptop yesterday and it came with windows vista and
well I've spent about 4 hours being extremely dissappointed and frustrated at
this new version of windows. For starters my desktop computer runs on windows
xp and I've tried to network to no avail( talk about frustration) I've called
my ISP provider, the maker of the computer and the maker of the router I
purchased to no avail. Each blames the other and says "call them". So not
only have I not got this new laptop networked with my desktop. I then out of
frustration hook the laptop up directly to my DSL modem. So I go to install
my Norton's System works 2006.. guess what... you got it, it's not
compatible. So then I decide that I will install the "temp" version that came
installed on this computer... Well guess what surprise it's not compatible
with windows vista ( why on earth is it installed on this system then) Then
it also has MSN messenger preinstalled so when I clicked on it and downloaded
it too will not work! I am seriously thinking of putting this damn laptop
back in the box and returning it for my money as I cannot take this
aggravation anylonger!!!!!

Completley frustrated in Canada

With regards to your networking problem, it shoudl be really easy to setup.
Make sure that both computers are on the same domain - for example
"WORKGROUP". If they are not in the same domain they will have problems. I
found my network was a doddle to setup and it only took about 5 clicks and
they spoke to each other nicely. Even adding a network printer was much
easier than XP. Find printer, then install drivers and it was done.
Try downloading MSN Messenger again but not from the menu link, from the
website.

Without more information about how you're trying to network them its hard to
troubleshoot.

For starters I'd recommend not installing any Symantec product on your
machine. So in my opinion its good that System Works and their other
software won't install.

I'd recommend AVG Free, Avast (Free) or NOD32 (commercial) for anti-virus
instead.
( why on earth is it installed on this system then)

Good question. Who's the machine's manufacturer?
Then

Does it fail to connect or fail to start or install? MSN Messenger has been
replaced by Windows Live Messenger which does work on Windows Vista.
