MSN Icons not showing in Outlook mails

Joe Bloggs

This morning I updated Office 2003 as per the update on "Updates" site, and
I ran the Java installation as hover buttons were not displaying on web
page, all this is now sorted and ok. (I'm running XP with SP2).

However, when in Outlook 2003 and reading an incoming mail the e-mail
address in "from" box used to display a green "MSN" icon beside the name.
These have now vanished, all I get is a grey circle. It's just annoying to
see it, I guess something I did has caused it to change.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

they replaces the little man icon with the circles. if the person is signed
on MSN, it'll be green, red if they are on you list but not signed on.

Yes, I now see grey circles. How do I get the green and red man icons back?

Thanks

you need to log into MSN and have the user on your list. You may need the
right version of messenger too... I know it works with windows messenger
4.7 and one of the newest MSN's, but that system is not online to check the
build #.

Thanks for your help. I have brand new v7.5 of messenger. I'm just guessing
that the Java I needed on PC has somehow replaced the MSM "men" icons? I
don't like these circles! The little men looked cool!

Thanks

I didn't think it had anything to do with java - they just wanted more
professional looking icons for the corporate users. It is working for me
with build 7.5.0244 build - contacts who are logged on have a green ball.
It's a pinkish ball for those who aren't logged on and gray for senders who
aren't on my contact list.

Office Communicator changed also when Office 2003 SP2 is installed as well.
My Outlook 2003 had the little men icons until then as well. Sharepoint is
crazy you will actually see both. I think there is an update for Sharepoint
as well to make the icons consistent for that application as well.
