When I click view for my download manager all I get is the top part and can't
see what i have downloaded. I get windows cannot open this file, need to know
what file created it. Something with my file association. I get file:
msn25.downloadhost, etc.

I get the same message so when you all figure this out let me know also. You
are not alone on this.

Hello, I previously had the problem and fixed. Currrently having same
problem again and wish I would have done a better job of saving the fix. If
it aids in search, I had to do a registry fix -- I believe it was dll file
related, and it worked like a charm. Found it via google search -- no such
luck this time. If I run across I will post here -- please do the same

The same thing is happening to me. Everywhere I look, the only information I
can get is, others have the same problem. I even sent an e-mail to to MSN,
with a picture of the display. The answer I got back was it wasn't their
problem. Nobody seems to have a fix.

Thank you for the reply, but had already found and tried that. Still can't
view the download. Didn't mention before, but the downloads do work, just
receive quick task manager view in msn explorer before the msndownloadhost
"can't open this program" message. Pain in the rear!

Fixed it. My son came over for Thanksgiving. He suggested that I reload
"update" MSN. Went to Help settings then "more info". Updated MSN from
that, and it cured the problem. Should have known and I finally received a
return on all of that money spent on a computer sciences degree for our son!

Hi everyone, I am having almost the same problem with my download manager for
msn windows XP. Everytime, for the last month, I have tried to download a
file or program from the Internet, I get an error box stating that the
download manager could not download the requested material, and the same
msn25.downloadhost reference, then it just closes on me. I was advised that
if I tried to re-load windows XP, everything I have will be deleted and I
have too much ministerial information and programs to try that. Is there any
way to fix the problem without losing everything on my computer? This is
getting crazy!

try reloading msn - http://membercenter.msn.com/download.aspx or
http://membercenter.msn.com/article.aspx?pa=MC_ART_DownloadMSNSoftware

i'm not exactly sure where marshal found the "update msn" or exactly where
he was referring to help, settings, more info, but reinstalling fixed it for
my pc. But then i got a newer one anyway and installed it fresh but it was
finally downloading normally while i was still on xp after i reinstalled msn.
Whatever you do don't reinstall XP, you'll lose everything for no reason.

You can (and should) export your mail to someplace like your documents
folders as a failsafe so you don't lose all your messages - you shouldn't
lose anything by reinstalling but its always a good idea to back stuff up in
one form or another before doing reinstalls just in case.
