Have been unable to find that particular fault but I tried a re-installation
of MSN Toolbar, event viewer saying it was successfull but was unable to
start Desktop Search. Went to event viewer and looked under application and
got the following: Event Type: Error

Also clicked on the link and got the following: Application, event

..temp files.

Not sure if the following would be of help but include it anyway. Whilst
cleaning my registry with Tuneup Utilities 2006 I came across a couple of
files like this. (MSN Desktop Search Custom Wordbreaker.* The file type
points to the missing CLDID {A373F27E-7B87-11D3-B1C1-00C04F68155C})

Sorry I have no further suggestions.

You have posted that Error Report previously.

If you double click this link in the original error report
in Event Viewer what does it say?

Try Start, Run, type "sfc /scannow" without quotes and hit Enter.

Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System
File Checker (Sfc.exe)

After doing this reboot the computer,

Did you make sure you typed it correctly? Single space between
sfc and /scannow?

Did as you said and inserted a space, started checking files. Was asked to
insert Windows disc which I did, told that this was not the disc required and
to insert disc. The disc that I entered is the disc that I got when I bought
the computer and I know that it is genuine although I believe it is called a
manufacturers disc. Pleases advise.

ADH

What is the make and model of your computer?

How is the manufacturer's disk described in the documentation,
which came with the computer?

When you were asked to inset the CD was any file name mentioned?
If you just didn't notice try it again.

Make is Cicero SC8140. Recovery CD. V 1.4 Piece No. 5215-1087. I was asked
for Windows XP Home Edition. Hope this of use.

The only reference I can get to your computer is on a Salvage List
associated with the liquidation of a Canadian business.
http://www.techliquadators.com/310505.txt

Is it a Laptop or Desktop computer?

How large is the hard disk? Does it have a restore partition? If yes
when you are prompted for a CD click on the Browse button and
point it to the Restore Partition.

When you were asked to inset the CD was any file name mentioned?
If you just didn't notice try it again.

It is a Desktop with 120GB hard drive. As far as I know they are still in
business and are still being sold at Future Shop.ca I will make sure of this
tomorrow. The message I got when I inserted the CD was, Windows Protection.
The disc you provided is the wrong CD. Please insert the Windows XP Home
Edition CD-ROM into your CD-ROM Drive. Possible reasons for this problem:
You have inserted the wrong CD (i.e. a different Windows Product CD than the
Version installed. There was no mention of any file name.

Did not see any partition on the drive.

I was looking for a Manual for the computer. That could tell you about
such things as to whether there is a hidden restore partition.

You could check how the hard disk is accounted for.

Try HD Tune (freeware). Download and run it and see what it turns up.
http://www.hdtune.com/

Select the Info tabs and place the cursor on C:\ under Drive letter
and then double click the two page icon ( copy to
Clipboard ) and copy into a further message.
