msn.com syntax error on page

M

Melchizedek

On my XP Home SP2 Sony system,
msn.com and google searches won't complete.

I get a script error on msn.com saying:

Error on Page.

The little box description says:

Line: 2
Char: 1
Error: syntax error
Code: 0
URL: http://www.msn.com/

I've scanned everything, hijacked, virus, etc., etc.

All updates installed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does the page display correctly? If so, then you can ignore those common
errors on such sites -
In IE go to Tools...Internet Options, Advanced tab, Browsing section - put a
check by "Disable script debugging", and uncheck "Display a notification
about every script error", click Apply, click Okay.

If the page is not displaying correctly, it may be a temporary issue with
the site, or reinstall your scripting engines from here:

This most obvisouly problem with the version of Internet explorer you
are using.
Goto http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and check for the latest
version of Internet Explorer this should fix your problems.

even with scripten.exe 5,6 for XP installed. All updates installed. History says all ok.

--- Also I get this web page every time.

Why does MSN look like this?
Your browser cannot find our style and presentation information. You’re welcome to use the
page as is, or upgrade your browser to its latest version. If you’re using Microsoft
Internet Explorer, go to the Microsoft Internet Explorer website to install the latest
version. If you are using another browser, see your browser’s website for more
information.

Does "etc., etc." include using the MSN Help link? <eg>

<title>MSN Search doesn't find anything or sends you to unexpected sites</title>

To resolve this problem and restore MSN Search access,
go to the Restoring MSN Search Access page,
< http://update.search.msn.com/ >
and follow the on-screen instructions.

See also the link to the "Related topic" on the same page.
