msn.com loading incorrectly

Hi,
I've been having a problem loading msn.com with an updated version of IE6sp1
on windows ME.
Msn.com loads after two minutes, but it does not show in the right format.
After msn.com fully loads there is a notice stating as followsYour browser cannot find our style and presentation information. You’re
welcome to use the page as is, or upgrade your browser to its latest version.
If you’re using Microsoft Internet Explorer, go to the Microsoft Internet
Explorer website to install the latest version. If you are using another
browser, see your browser’s website for more information."<<
Msn.com is the only page with this particular problem.
Are there any suggestions to remedy this. Thanks

Have you installed any application that forces IE to use a style sheet? Is
your IE the latest version available to you?

I am using the most up to date version of IEsp1 with all updates. The only
thing I can think of is that I changed from dial up to verizon dsl. Also I
upgraded Spywareblaster to v3.3. When I was installing the dsl software,
there was an option to install MSN premium(optional) free with the dsl
service, but decided to opt out. I'm not sure but maybe this is msn
complaining about not installing msn premium.
I also do not have anything check marked in the tools>internet options>
accessibility section.

First I will tell you that I'm simply not sure at this point. However, it
seems likely that you may be on the correct track and that the issue is
something to do with the installation software from Verizon. With most DSL
companies you don't actually NEED any installation software other than an
driver perhaps. Anything else is usually not required. What happens if you
have their software uninstalled and have the DSL device plugged in, turned
on, and your Internet Explorer set to never dial a connection? I've never
used Verizon's DSL though I did set it up at one point for a buddy of mine.
This was a while back but I'm almost positive that the software that came
with it didn't need to be installed and all we had to do was install the
driver for the NIC that came with it.

The Verizon software, according Verizon Tech support, also verifies what you
said about installation of their software. It is not needed to run. It has
automated help and support, an option to download Msn premium, and a few more
bells and whistles.
Today when trying to load msn.com, it did load correctly a couple of times,
but then it reverted back to problem Ive been having. Something is not
understanding the msn format or maybe there is a setting somewhere that I can
change or maybe I need to add a file so internet explorer could understand.
I'm really not sure if it is on my end or on msn's end, although msn.com is
the only page that has this problem. Any suggestions?

I guess it goes back to the root of the question I asked when I first saw
this. Do you have any software installed that is forcing IE to run with
certain style sheets or the like?

I do have an idea... Open IE, click tools, options, click on the security
tab, highlight trusted sites, click on the site's tab below it, untick the
box at the bottom that says the sites require server verification (HTTPS)
and add msn.com to the list. Click Okay. Clear your temp files and reload
MSN.com and see if it opens properly?

Hi Galen,
I might have solved the mystery! Jinkies Scoob.
Apparently it was caused by missing visual basic files. Installed
vbrun60sp5.exe and it seems msn.com is now loading as it should. I will keep
monitoring.

Excellent, I'll make it a point to try to remember that for the future as
well. Post back if it stops working of if you find out that's not the fix?
