This program is showing up in my task manager list, and I don't use Windows
Messaging.
I uninstalled Windows Messaging (as a Windows component in add/remove
programs).
There is nothing in Programs Startup. The program doesn't show up in the
registry Run
folders in current_user or local_machine. The program doesn's show up in
Services.
Anyone know what calls this program and how to get rid of it (or does it
have a purpose)?
thanks
bill

Start/Run/type MSCONFIG and press Enter. Click the Startup tab.
Uncheck msmsgs. Click Apply, Close and Reboot.

First make sure that its own tools - options are not set to run at
windows start (if it is not showing in MSConfig it probably is not
selected, but this is the way to disable). Then make sure that Outlook
Express is not loading it. In OE, Tools - Options, uncheck
'automatically logon to windows messenger', and in its View - Layout
uncheck 'Contacts' - which refers to those managed by messenger and
loads it up to do so

I have removed Windows Messaging as a Windows component in Add/Remove
Programs,
so I can't access its options. Before
In Outlook Express ver( 6.00.2900.2180) I don't see any checkbox for
'automatically logon to windows messenger'.
Which tab in the Tools->Options window contains this setting?
Thanks
Bill
