MSI reinstalls itself

I have an voice mail software MSI I created w/ wininstall. This
software intefaces with our facilities voicemail system. It is being
pushed down to the PC's via active directory policy What is happening
is it is reinstalling itself every so often through out the day,
usually 2 or 3 times. The MSI reinstalls itself when another program
(not the MSI) is open, like outlook. The MSI I made has a print-to-fax
function in it, so what happens is the default printer on the client
desktop is reset to no default printer. This would be OK if it only
happened once, during the original install of the MSI. But since the
MSI is reinstalling itself two or three times a day, the clients are
having to reset thier default printer two or three times a day. Is
there a way to disable the reinstall feature of a MSI?

Look what component file or regentry will reinstalled.- And then change
the keyfile or keyreg in this component to a dummy.
Now it will not reinstall.

Definitely on the right track via Angele's suggestion. The only additional thing
I'll mention is that you'll usually find out the culprit component by examining
the Application Event Log.

Look in the troubleshooting section for the question: "Every time I launch my
application, Windows Installer performs an installation. How can I determine the
cause of the on-demand installation?"
