MSI package upgrade for manually installed application

J

Jeremy Schafer

Hello all,

Our department has a number of computers that were installed with
Windows 2000 and all of our applications manually. Currently, we are
repackaging our programs into MSIs so we can deploy them via GPO. Is
there something I can do to the MSI package so that it uninstalls
previous installs of a product whether it is a) the same version or b)
previous versions of the program even if they weren't installed via GP?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You may also want to consider reviewing the Windows 2000 Software Installation
and Maintenance Whitepaper at <
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/administration/management/siamwp.asp
. It provides information on a number of scenarios relating to software
deployment with Group Policy.

Hope this helps,
