msgs get deleted from my inbox when I click on another folder

When I have messages in my inbox (that's good), and if I click on another
folder prior to reading my messages, the messages get deleted from my inbox.
They don't go to my deleted items folder either, they just disappear.
 
Try using Advanced Find to attempt to locate the missing item(s). See if
they've been moved behind your back or if view settings are 'hiding' them
