MSFT Launches Discrimination Campaign Against #13

***MSFT is Discriminating against the # 13***:

Is there no Building #13 on the Redmond Campus?

What's all this discrimination against the #13 on the part of big ole MSFT?

Is big bad MSFT Redmond Marketers done got sckeeered of lil ol #13?

I done noticed today a whole passle 'o articles on the coming Office 14.
How it done got a full complement of MDM aka Master Data Management in its
CTP comin' first quarter of 2008. It sure seems like Office 2007 released
not to long ago which was Office 12. Master data management is technology
that allows for the management of common reference data across disparate IT
systems or groups. So what's up with ole intrpepid MSFT? Has their
marketers done got afraid of lil ol #13? I know about the Beta of 12. I
know 12 released. Did they slip 13 onto the market and beta it lightning
quick and I done missed it?

How many US hotels have a 13th floor? It is all baloney anyway!

There will definitely not be an Office 13.

I refuse to count the number of groups you have cross-posted to.
Do tell, was it 13?

Hi James--

I help all the time but mostly on Vista groups, and I understand
crossposting. I cross posted to 3 groups and I only cross post on special
ocassions like this one where a multibillion dollar conglomerate shows they
are outright scared of using a 2 digit number. I could understand if they
were selling condos in a mixed use building in downtown Seattle and they
chose not to have a 13th floor, but I think it's funny that the company that
made enough money for janitors to be multimillionaires and their former
Chief Software Architect to be #1 on the Fortune Mag list is afraid of a
simple number. Didn't Gates and Ballmer win a few math contests at Harvard?
Maybe MSFT's Charles Somogyi has a math formula that prooves being #13 would
ruin MSFT Office.

They sure done did skip it. Office 12---->whoops no Office 13---->CTP
Office 14 badda bing.

It's a life changing philosophical concept you should be paying your months'
earnings for. WOW these Office types are really serious 'bout their
software.

While I realize you are joking, I believe the reason they are going from
Office 12 to Office 14 is due to a internal poll. So no discrimination
involved, just a little fun. :)

That would be a good trick? I didn't think building science had got that
far?

Most hotels and many other public buildings don't have a floor *numbered*
13. There is a thirteenth floor, of course, but it's numbered 14.

Does this mean that people who are superstitious cannot count? ;)

13 has always been lucky for me - many of the most important milestones in
my life have occurred on the 13th of the month

You just proved that it is all a load of baloney. If we had decided to have
10 day weeks and 10 day months instead of 7/30 days, there never be a Friday
13th. Add if we had learnt to count in Hexadecimal, there would never be a
13 at all.

Terry (soon to be 5*13 years old: should I be worried?)

Only 4.6153846153846153846153846153846 * 13 years old so not worried at all
;)
Superstition I can discount - coincidence is another matter :)

Well, I just noticed in the real estate news yesterday that a law firm
Barney has been consulting for are moving their offices to the 13th floor of
a new office tower in Mobile, so apparently RSA (Retirement Systems of
Alabama, which built the skyscraper, which looks like a short Chrysler
Building) is not superstitious. <g>

I have no feelings about thirteen one way or another. Obviously it's a
problem at dining tables designed to seat twelve, but aside from that, I'm
neutral. Which is not to say that we don't notice it: Barney will invariably
remark, "Well, Friday the Thirteenth comes on a Thursday this month." (Quote
from Pogo IIRC.)
