MSFax sending wrong pages

GregC

Using Outlook 2003 with Fax Mail Transport on Windows XP
We send PDF attachments through Outlook which are correctly rendered
into TIF images in the Fax Console.
All the TIF images have the correct pages in the Outbox and Sent Items
folders.
The majority of the faxes are sent successfully with the correct pages.
However, 1 or 2 faxes in each run of 100 send the wrong pages. More
specifically all pages from the TIF are sent but a page from an old fax
is also sent.
These incorrect pages appear to be coming from previous faxes in much
earlier runs.
We've removed the old faxes from the Sent Items folder and experienced
the same results.

I noticed a previous post mentioned jobs stuck in
Windows\System32\spool\printers but this directory was empty.

Anyone with similar results or any ideas on the cause?

Thanks

Never seen it. Rendering is done by the originating app, not the Fax
Service.
You never posted the method you're using to send faxes or which Fax
Transport you're using. It would be more reliable to Print to the Fax
Printer. Any reason you need to bring Outlook into the picture?

Thanks Russ. Here's some additional background info.
We publish a software that automates the sending of customer
statements. PDFs are created and automatically attached to an email
with the recipients fax populated in the 'To:' line.
[Fax:recipientname@faxnumber]
Fax Mail Transport is set as an account in Outlook 2003. Fax is set
as the 'Fax Printer' in the Properties of Fax Mail Transport account.
The Fax Console is connected directly to the modem on the same machine.
Acrobat renders the PDF file from the email and sends it through the
Fax Mail Transport account to the Fax Console.
When the fax image is opened in the MSFax Console Temp Viewer from the
Sent items or the Outbox in Fax Console the fax has the correct pages.
One or two in every batch faxes an additional page from a previous fax
that is no longer in the Sent Items or Outbox of the Fax Console.

Windows XP Fax was never intended as a production fax utility. It is an
afterthought for the occasional sending of a single fax through the GUI.
Faxing attachments via Outlook is not reliable and there is no way to
troubleshoot problems like this. You might have a chance if you sent the fax
directly to the fax printer.
