what is "nc"? what is "pls"?
xp doesn't have true dos, only a dos emulator, most dos
programs won't run in xp.

Hi, Naji.

Most MS-DOS programs that I have tried run fine in the "DOS" window of
WinXP. I put quotation marks around "DOS" because WinXP does not include
true MS-DOS at all, but an emulator (two emulators, actually - one 16-bit
and one 32-bit) which many users consider "a better DOS than DOS".

Some DOS programs, though, won't run in the "DOS" window. These usually are
programs that directly manipulate the hardware, which WinXP - built on the
NT platform - will not allow. Even these programs can often be made to run
using the special settings available within WinXP, such as by setting them
to run using the "compatibility mode".

Which programs are you having trouble with? What is NC? I may not
recognize them, but others here probably will.

I can't help with your other problem (KBFiltr ?).

Norton Commander?

Pls = Please.

I haven't had one fail to run in about 7 years...

Win NT, 2000, and XP all have had a "Command Prompt" or Command Line mode
that work essentially like DOS. While SOME legacy apps won't run
(notoriously, communications apps and DOS-based games), many/most WILL run.
I still run DBase IV on my XP machine...
