Okay I typed in msconfig under run from the startup menu because I wanted to get rid of the stupid startup items such as the system32 and McAfee. So I "disabled all items" on the startup tab and it changed my startup to selective startup. So, I restarted my computer and I get an old classic style of Windows XP (i'm assuming) instead of the green/blue new color. So what I mean is that for the syles, it doesn't have the Windows XP styles and stuff to choose from anymore, just classic

I checked everything and nothing was changed. Also, when I open IE and go to something like google.com at the bottom it says badurl.grandstreetinteractive.com which I've never seen before. So I went to add/remove programs and got rid of that, although it still shows up when I open IE. I even changed back to normal startup and nothing changes. I can't get on AOL either...So, basically msconfig has now not allowed me to get on the internet, changed mystyle/look to some old greyish type version of the computer and when I go to network connections I see nothing. I checked for viruses and found none...If anyone can help me that'd be great as I'm freaking out here.

First, can you use System Restore to go back to an earlier date?
Or go back to msconfig and enable all programs to start, check if that
resolves your connection issues.
Against malware you have some programs, try to use them to remove
spyware (ad-aware and spybot), hijackers (Hijack this) etc.
Before you remove something, check the name of the item in google to
see if it belongs to a useful program.

Lastly, if after all this you cannot connect, use LSP - fix, it's
useful when you delete malware, which has negatively affected
connectivity:

More info about parasites:

Download the utility CWshredder:

Unzip - close *all* instances of IE & OE, hit the executable and
follow
the prompts.

You can also download Hijack This from here:

http://www.mjc1.com/files/merijn/hijackthis.exe

Go here:
http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/

For instructions on how to use it; you have to post the log it
produces here:

so experts tell you what is good and what is malware

HiJack This is a program that simply searches for programs that run at
boot time, and checks for browser plug-ins. The results this program
gives you are generally just informative. Most of the programs it will
come up with are valid programs that you actually want running. You'll
have to go through the results and tell the program to delete unwanted
programs. If you can't figure out what some of the programs are, don't
just delete them, research them and/or post them so experts can let
you know what the program does. Just type the program name into google
which gets a decent answer pretty quickly.

Try downloading, installing and updating the
spyware removers from the links below. Run both of them.

If these don't correct the problem, then get yourself a copy of
BHODemon, available at
http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm .

It does not need installing - simply unzip and run the EXE program. It
is easy to use. It will find the hijackware DLL files, and give you
the ability to disable them.

Hope this helps.
