msconfig?

I just installed WinXP this weekend. From what I can tell,
it doesn't have msconfig (I know Win2k doesn't have it), and
I see no reference to it in the help file. However, scanning
this news group for useful information I came across the
thread that starts here:

The discussion implies to me that XP does have it.

Can anyone explain?

Also, what's the best (i.e., effective and convenient) way
to control which apps start up with WinXP? I don't mind
paying for it if that's the way to go.

XP *does* have it. Run it from the Start | Run line.

Also, what's the best (i.e., effective and convenient) way
to control which apps start up with WinXP? I don't mind
paying for it if that's the way to go.

On each program you don't want to start automatically, check its
Options to see if it has the choice not to start. Many can easily
and best be stopped that way. If that doesn't work, run MSCONFIG
from the Start | Run line, and on the Startup tab, uncheck the
programs you don't want to start automatically.

Click START, RUN, then type in "msconfig.exe" (without the quotes) and
press enter. Let us know if it's missing......

Sheesh! I must have typed it incorrectly the first time,
because there it is. After the first time, I didn't try
again -- I guess because I was conditioned by Win2k.

As I just mentioned in reply to Ken's message, I must have
mistyped the first time, and didn't try again since I didn't
expect it to be there anyway, based on Win2k experience.

posted. It says windows cannot find msconfig and the same thing on helpctr,
how can I fix this?
