msconfig

In my startup programs (msconfig), I have a program still lurking, which
has been uninstalled. How do I get rid of this trace left over? I've looked
in regedit & windows, but apparently I'm not looking in the correct place,
or I'm just being DUH.

The program listed is : startup item: "Run Autoload" Command:
"C:\Program~1\Ups\Quantum" Location: "Common Startup"

OS is XP home.

Thanks

In msconfig, Common Startup listed in the Location column, refers to
%allusersprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Right click the Start button | Click on Explore All Users |
Delete the Run Autoload shortcut in the right hand pane

You can also paste %allusersprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup into the
Start | Run box.

Go to start | run. Type in regedit. Click ok. Look in these locations
for the entry and delete it.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\services

Make sure you have a backup of the registry before making changes. I
suggest using ERUNT.

Wesley,

Thanks, but I still can't find it ( . I opened explore all users
documents and settings>all users>start menu>programs>startup, and the only
thing I have there is "digital line detect". And, when I pasted
"%allusersprofile%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup " into the run, it opened a
new window, which is blank.

Any other ideas? I dunno, maybe I'm just brain dead here.

I know that trace of program isn't hurting anything, just one of those
things that's nagging on me.

Thanks again.

Rock,

Thanks, now I'll be able to sleep tonight! It was under
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder"

Thanks again.

Kirby,

If Run Autoload had been UNChecked (disabled) in msconfig it would be in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder

Start | Run | Type: regedit | Click OK |
Navigate to...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder
If Run Autoload is listed in the right hand pane, right click it and select
Delete
Answer Yes to the prompt.
