MSConfig utility for Win 2k

Brandon

Does anyone know if there is a similar MSConfig utility
(that was used for WIN9x) for Win2k. If so, what is the
command to launch it? I am trying to check the items that
are starting up automatically so that I can control these.

It may not be strictly kosher, but you can "borrow" the msconfig utility
from XP, and use it on Windows 2000.

Under 2000, you can use the System Information tool. This is under Programs,
Accessories, System Tools. Or, you can just run compmgmt.msc, and navigate
to System Tools | System Information, etc.

However, if you are comfortable with the registry, the Run keys are not hard
to find, either by searching only for keys (uncheck Values and Data), and
check Match whole strings only, or by navigating to them. Under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, and HKEY_USERS\<long string> you will
find SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and RunOnce. See for
instance "Definition of the RunOnce Keys in the Registry" at
<http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;137367&Product=win2
000>.

"This GUI tool gives you information about your IP configuration."

Has nothing to do with the functionality in msconfig.
