Every time I boot up I get a "#" in the msconfig startup list. Even if I
disable it and then reboot, it comes back enabled. It seems to me that it is
some sort of trojen horse or virus...has anyone ever seen this before? Does
anyone have a solution?

You may have insufficient access rights to this registry key:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

If the value "msconfig" is there then you can try deleting it manually.

Jay, go to Start>Run type: regedit click Ok. Navigate to
HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current
Version\run, run once etc. Look in each run folder for the entry and
delete it from the rt pane if there.
You can also look in
Hkey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\run, run once
etc

Thank you, this did the trick. It was actually in the
Hkey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\ area of the registry. There
was an entry that said "load" in the Name column and "#" in the Data column.
Deleting this entry has solved the problem...not sure how or why that entry
was in there to begin with???

Anyway, thank you for your help.
