msconfig problems

i can not check or uncheck anything in my start up and i
have done a full scan and i am up to date on norton what
else would cause this problem i also can;t get my speakers
to work---someone please help me

You probably need to be an 'administrator' type user to use msconfig.
Also for speakers to work you need:
a) Speakers to be connected to SPK port in your sound card
b) Speakers to be switched on
c) Volume increased either on the speakers themselves or via the sound
properties in control panel
d) Sound drivers installed and working.
