msconfig not working

All I want to do is disable some startup options. For
the first time though i have noticed that msconfig will
not execute within the run menu. It says "msconfig not a
valid WIN32 application"

I don't know what would've disable this or won't allow it
to work.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you scanned the machine for viruses lately? Can you run regedit?

Curious because I have seen a few viruses that do this. If you can open
regedit then it wont be what I was thinking of but you can also remove
startup items there in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.
