msconfig dying

Anyone have any ideas on why msconfig will run for a few seconds
(sometimes a second or two other simes 10-15 seconds) and then just
die?

Besides being disconcerting it makes it a little difficult to
diagnose other problems...

Any ideas appreciated.

Got a file called "memore.exe" on your computer? Virus!
Rename "config.exe" to "config.com" & then run config & stop "memore.exe"
from stating at bootup. Reboot & see how things are?
