msconfig and regedit -- permissions problems??

Help! I don't seem to have control over my own computer! When I uncheck
startup items and reboot, duplicates of those items suddenly appear and are
checked again. And when I try to delete a registry key, that key keeps coming
back. I checked all of my permissions and they seem to be OK. But what's the
difference between "Administrators" and "<my name>"? According to my user
profiles, I am the computer Administrator? Should the entire registry have
the same "owner"?

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on?

Thanks

Go into the applicable program to Options or Settings and deselect it
loading at Windows Startup. You are taking it out of Startup with msconfig,
but the program is restoring it to start when Windows starts up.

You have to change the program's options/settings to stop it from loading
on Startup.

What kind of items are these?
Some examples?

Many spyware infections will do this.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?

These are some programs that came bundled with my laptop. Also, when I
upgraded the bundled version of RealPlayer to 10.5, I kept getting a
"SYSTEMBOOTHIDEPLAYER" error message on startup. After two weeks of
troubleshooting with the RealNetworks Tier 3 escalation team, we were able to
determine that this was being caused by a leftover registry key. But, even
though I have permissions to edit and delete keys in my registry, I
absolutely cannot delete this particular key, no matter what I try. And no
one can tell me why. In order NOT to get the error message, I am forced to
run a legacy version of RealPlayer.

My computer is being continually monitored for adware and spyware by
Ad-Aware, and by PC-cillin Internet security for viruses. Do I need the
additional software found at wildersecurity.com?
