MSCONFIG and Installing XP

Don!

I have found these instructions regarding installlation of XP. I am
using ME now and want to get the installation right.

"Launch MSCONFIG. On its General tab, uncheck the "Process Startup
Group" box. This will keep stray applications from running and
interfering with the upgrade."

Problem: On ME under the General Tab I have Normal Startup, Diagnostic
startup, and Selective Startup no Process Startup Group.

I suppose Selective Startup is the same thing as Process Statup Group
but am not sure.

What that means is on the general tab, uncheck: load startup items. They're
just saying don't let any programs in your startup folder (on the start
menu) to start up. The same thing came be done by just dragging the
shortcuts out of the startup folder to the desktop.

Take Selective Startup, and uncheck the Startup group in it. (or
uncheck all items on the Startup page individually)
