MSCDEX file

I am trying to install my cd-rom and the driver install
program says that MSCDEX can't be found. How can I fix
this problem?
 
What operating system do you have, i.e. which version
of Windows?

you only need that for dos,
since win2k is not dos based you do *not* need to 'install' your cdrom...
if it's working and wired correctly
win2k will automatically detect and install it...
that simple
