MSAS Won't save settings

B

Bart

I installed a fresh XP Pro about two weeks ago. Installed
all usual programs, and the latest MSAS .615 beta. But I've
noticed that I can't save any settings! Everytime that I
launch MSAS the Setup Assistant runs, it's like it's
running for the first time. All other progs seem to be
functioning properly.

I've tried removing and reinstalling, even going back to an
older version. The symptoms remain.

Any ideas?

Check that you attempt the installation and the running of MSAS under an
account which has Administrator rights.

Check that the folder "C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\" has security
settings which permit you full control.

Ensure you are logged on as an Administrator.
Remove MSAS again.
Delete the folder "C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\" and all its
contents.
Re-install MSAS again.

Yes, the account does have administrator rights and the
folder's security settings allow full control.

It's odd that the old folder remained after un-installing!
And after I deleted that folder and the re-installed,
everything seems to be functional.

Thanks!

It's a beta, these things (problems) are to be expected.
