MSAS won't minimize to SysTray

PC1: Abit m/b, AMD 1.6ghz cpu, 512mb Crucial, 40gb HDD,
Win XP Pro, lotsa udder stuff.

Hello. I've been reading all of the latest posts, & I
suspect my prob is a new one. I have MSAS on my other PC
& I have found no probs. MSAS seems to be functioning
properly on PC1, although I do have 3 probs:
1) when I close the prog (from the full size) it shuts
off, as opposed to showing the Icon in the SysTray.
2) when I try to save the setting for 'show scan
results', after clicing OK the check mark disappears
3) it doesn't load at boot-up as on PC2

Please assist if poss.

Thanks in advance, KBR

If you are judging this purely by the appearance or not of the icon in the
Notification Area, then maybe you have hit the long-standing bug in XP in
that it does not always show all Notification Area icons even when
configured to do so.

In other words, maybe MSAS is not "shutting off", it is just that you cannot
see its icon.

Try Start -> Log Off, then Log In again. Does that cause the icons to
re-appear?

Yes Robin, logging off (& in) did cause the Icon to
appear in SysTray. Any ideas on why it isn't loading at
boot-up &, will I need to log off every time, on this
PC1, merely to see the prog is on?

Thx, KBR

Hello,

Goto: Start/Control Panel/Add-Remove programs/MSAS
then click on suport info!!!
Then click on repair!

If that not work:

uninstall, Delete MSA folder and
C:\windows\system32\gcUnCompress.dll
run a regceaner (Ccleaner)
http://www.ccleaner.com/ccdownload.asp
Also use the temp cleaner of Ccleaner.
Do a fresh install with version .416 (latest)

Thanks for the reply. Prior to my original post I
performed all of the actions you suggest as well as a
Disc Cleanup & Defrag (which I perform religiously every
Sunday-pun intended). After the re-install, the probs
persist on this PC1...what to do, what to do? As I said,
I havn't noticed any probs on the other PC2.
Whhaaaaaazzzzzzzup???
Thanks again-all, for any tips. KBR

Open MSAS > Options > Settings > General, then ensure that "Hide the
Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the system tray." is unchecked. If this is
not it, then... ???

It is a bug in XP. If the MSAS icon does not appear in the Notification
Area (formerly known as the System Tray), then you will have to Log Off and
Log On again every time.

This has nothing to do with MSAS, it is an XP problem.
