I use XP SP2. Prior to today it worked fine. My
internet connection works fine for everything else.

Any help would be appreciated.

To update signatures. I have auto-update on. Have re-
booted and still doesn't detect an internet connection to
update.

Thanks--this is what I would suggest next time:

Start, control panel, add or remove programs, Microsoft Antispyware, change,
update.

It's a little quicker than the full uninstall/install process.

Bill,
My copy of MSAS has in the past been able to connect to the internet to
update. However, this afternoon I tried to update and got the message
"Warning, could not connect to the internet". I have tried your trick of
Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs>Change>update. It did not solve
the problem for me, incidentally I have the latest definition file (5699) so
I will wait until the next release before I attempt anymore changes.

Thanks for the report. This issue can be caused by transient issues at the
server end, as well as issues on the local machine--the message is the same
regardless of where the break in communications happens. So far, we're
running about weekly on updates, so it'll be a while before you can test
again when there should be updates, although that process should proceed
without error even when there are no updates.
