MSAS breaking Windows Update?

S

Scott Cooper

This morning I installed Windows XP Service Pack 2 on two
machines that had Microsoft AntiSpyware installed, and
afterward Windows Update won't install the updates. It
will get to the page and allow me to select the updates,
but the dialog box for installing them fails each install.

I've verified the systems are virus free and also ran
Ad-Aware on them, so they're both clean.

Any ideas? I didn't find anything searching for this problem.

On the first machine I did a repair install of XP Home with
SP2 slipstreamed, this fixed the issue.

I don't know--I tend to think this issue is separate from Microsoft
Antispyware--there are some KB articles about how to fix WindowsUpdate when
it breaks, and I've definitely seen it break in the absence of Microsoft
Antispyware.
