Anyone see a problem with Terminal Server/Services after installing this
patch? Before the patch, my servers were at SP2, so I installed SP4 and
the patch. Now, using the Terminal Service or Citrix client, the
servers are very slow in logging in and off, which I can live with, but
NFuse applications no longer launch (well, at least not after 30
minutes, which was as long as I was willing to wait).

I've found nothing about it on the Citrix web site nor in the MS KB.

Ideas anyone

- Windows 2000, SP4, running Terminal Services in application server
mode
- Citrix Metraframe XP 1.8, Feature Release/Service Pack 2

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Colin. I'll keep this handy. It applies to SP3, but I seem to
have "fixed" the problem by going w/ SP3 instead of SP4.

Rolled back the hotfix...problem persisted
Rolled back SP...problem solved
Installed SP3...no problem
Reinstalled hotfix...still no problem

DEFINITELY SP4 RELATED!!

I just hope there are no more super critical security updates that
require SP4 before SP5 hits the street. Once again, the
odd-numbered-release rule of thumb prevails.

Thanks for the feedback!

I have the same basic issues as you were having with Win2K SP4. I am
running Citrix MF 1.8 SP4 Feature Release 1. I get slow ICA and RDP
connections (and I do mean slow!). If I rollback to SP3, all is well again.
(By the way, I had the same issue when the Citrix MF 1.8 was at service pack
3 level also). Hopefully between MS and Citrix, someone can get this worked
out. In the meantime, I'll stick with Win2K SP3.

Ricardo,

I know the KB article refers to SP3 but it will actually fix the issues
created by SP4. According to MS support the fix that the article refers to
will actually be part of SP5. Evidently they had not finished regression
testing on the fix before SP4 was rolled out. The fix can only be obtained
by contacting MS.

Cheers,

Very interesting. My W2K TS don't have modems installed. When I went
to look at the setting in question, it was set to "ask during dialing
when the server offers".

Good to know, but I think I will stay at SP3 for now. There are still a
lot of other bad posts about SP4 in the NG.

Thanks for the info!
