MS Works compatability with Wordperfect

Unable to download MS Works documents off my old Win 98 computer onto my new
XP which only features Wordperfect. Can I transfer these documents into
Wordperfect or is all lost? I have had no luck attempting to open any of my
MS Works documents in Wordperfect.

If the old computer is still alive, you can open the files in Works, then
save them in some more universal format like .doc, .rtf, or .txt and then
you'll be able to open them in WordPerfect.

Otherwise, you're going to need to install Works in the new computer, or
install a program that can open Works files.
