On what media are the Word files backed up? If they are on Floppies,
CD-R(W)s, or Zip disks, put the backups in their respective drives, and copy
the files to the location you want. If you backed up your files using the XP
built-in backup tool, simply open that tool up, and use the restore feature.

Install Microsoft Word, then copy the backed up Word files
to the "My Documents" folder located on your Desktop.
