MS Word: Automatic Date Editing

When I type in a date in MS Word, eg "1 November 2006", automatically a
window appears such as "2006-11-01 press enter to insert". I am not a touch
typist and therefore having typed in the date I do not detect this, as I'm
not looking at my screen when the window appears. How do I switch this
automatic formatting off? I seem to waste a lot of time having to return to
correct a date as it now appears as eg "1 November 2006-11-01"

On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options. Click the AutoText tab.
Clear the option to "Show AutoComplete tip for AutoText and dates."
Click OK.

I tried this but the AutoText tab did not display "Show AutoComplete tip for
AutoText and dates" - it gave a list of options such as "yours sincerely" etc

I'm not currently using a recent version of Word; perhaps the option
has a different name. Is there a similar option, such as "Show
AutoComplete suggestions"? If so, try clearing that one.

Detective Inspector Robert Compton has been on the case for an hour and has
at last run the culprit to his hiding place.
It is "Tools" - "Options" - "View" - "Show" - Clear "Screen Tips" box.
Thanks for your help, Stefan.
Who would have thought that Bill Gates would have hidden it here!
