MS Update has messed with my sound

Wow! The last question got such a quick and successful answer, I have to try
again.

Got an automated MS Update on my computer this week. After trusting MS for
about a year I'm now back to turning off the automatic updates until I find
out how to undo this damage. Since the update I get no sound on Media Player
or I-tunes. The speakers work because I get that 'Windows Open' and 'Windows
Closing' sound on start up and shut down. This only happened after the
update. I tried restoring my computer to before the update and that only
messed up another important business program... still no sound. I've checked
all my sound levels and mute buttons, everthing is normal.

What have you guys done now???

Visit MS Update and view the history, to see what was updated.

PS Never use msupdate for drivers, only critical updates
