MS Office 2000 Premium disk

Brigitte

I finally was able to get Word 2000 back after it crashed,
with your Newsgroup help.I still have some problems with
templates.
Now I would like to download MS Office 2000 SR-1.
I have Windows 98 and the disks that Dell provided me
with, are MS works 2000.
How do I get this Premium disk? I do not want to upgrade
the Office.
Thank you,
Brigitte

You can't download Office; you have to buy it. If you had Word 2000 before,
there's a good chance that what you have is Works Suite 2000 (I don't
believe there is a standalone Works 2000), which includes Word. So you would
reinstall Word from your Works Suite CD.

Suzanne, in other words I do not have access to SR-1
patch, without buying the Office 2000 software?
I tried it with the MS WorkSuite 2000 Disk 1, MS Word 2000.
Of course it did not work.
(I do not want to upgrade word, as word 2000 used to work
fine for me, before out of the blue it crashed.)

I tried to

Suzanne, In other words I have to buy Office 2000, if I
want the Service patch installed from the Premium Disk. Is
Word a stand alone product with the Premium disk in
Office?
I tried to get the sr1patch to work with my MS WorksSuite
setup disk no.1 , which has MS Word on it. I does not work.
It was suggested in your knowledge base article that I do
get this Service fix.
(P.S. I do not want to upgrade my word 2000. It worked
well for me, before it crashed out of the blue.)
Thank you ,
Brigitte

I haven't had Office 2000 or Word 2000 or Works Suite 2000, so I can't be
sure of this, but I would think that the SR would be able to update Word in
Works Suite. There's a remote possibility that it's already updated. If you
can get Word open at all, look at Help | About Microsoft Word and see what
version it's showing.
