MS Image Composer - where is it?

Mike

I have owned practically every version of FP since FP 97. Somewhere along
the line, I learned to love Microsoft Image Composer. I recently had a
problem on my main computer where I do all my web work and I had to
reinstall most everything.

Where the heck is Image Composer? I looked through all my stuff and I'll be
darned if I can find it. I probably have FP 97 and 98 packed away, but I do
have Office Professional 2000 with FP and Office XP Professional with FP
CD's readily available. I found something called "Microsoft Photo Editor"
but I don't think that's it... is it?

It doesn't appear to be downloadable from MS, but it must be on one of these
installation CD's somewhere, no?

The last/final version is 1.5 and can be found on the FP98 CD or the FP2000 standalone version, 2nd
CD.

Thanks, guess I have to try to find my FP98 CD, because I don't have the
2000 standalone.

Do you have any idea as to why MS stopped publishing it ? It wasn't great but I
thought that it could have been quite good.

No. They replaced it with PhotoDraw, which was also later discontinued.
The focus is currently on the following 3 imaging application:

Picture It
Digital Image Pro
Digital Image Suite

I have all of the applications mentioned above as well, but I still prefer and use Image Composer
for all of my graphic and image needs.

No....it wasn't included in any FP past FP98 I don't think. I had to dig
out my copy of FP98 to get MIC off the CD

If they'd continued to develop it and included features such as layers and
slicing images and generating HTML to reassemble sliced images in a web page
(like most editors these days do - Photoshop, Fireworks etc) that would have
been all I'd need as far as features go.
