MS AntiSpyware Beta

My main PC which is hard wired to the adsl wirless router
has real probs with spyware. I have MS Antispyware running
and regular scanning, SpyFerret, Spybot and Ad-Ware SE
scanning. And Lop.com still returns adding desktop
shortcuts and that bloody blue toolbar added to the bottom
of my screen. Today it has even overridden MS Antispyware's
ability to block IE home ULR. What else can I do? Would
getting rid of the Ethernet hard wireing help?

Do you also have an updated antivirus running?

Is your system patched up to date with all applicable security patches?

If these are true, you shouldn't be having this issue.

Spyware on a clean and patched system mostly gets there because the user of
the system clicks on something or assents to something that they should not
have.

I have done all you have suggested updated, safe mode, etc.
I placed a post in alt.privacy.spyware and someone said
SpyFerret is a rogue Spyware which actually installs lop.
com!! Is this true? If it is I will be seriously peeved as
I chose them because the specifically claimed to rid me of
lop.com paid and them $30 for two licences!
I have heard WinXP Prof has better security than Home is
this true?
I use Opera as a web browser and have no problems on my
personal machine but my children use IE and MSN Messenger a
lot on the PC in question. Is this the root of the problem?

Hello Guy,

I download SpyFerret and run it,
No lop.com installed, but the scan found things to delete that must just
prevent you to go to Spyware sites!!!!
So you get the change that after you do that, can go to sites that where
blockt in your IE5 settings.
