MS anti-spyware annoyance

I recently installed MS anti-spyware beta, which on initial scan did a good
job removing a few lingering infections. I also enabled the "real-time
protection" which causes little pop-up alerts in the corner of my screen to
appear, sometimes calling for a user choice or simply alerting the user of
some activity.

The trouble is that these little alerts repeat themselves over and over and
over again. Upon inspection of the anti-spyware history, the same exact
little alerts occure on a regular basis. For example, MS anti-spyware has
alerted me probably 100 times that I changed my start page in IE to
www.google.com. etc etc etc. These little alerts are annoying, redundant,
and retarded. How can I fix it so that they appear only once????

You can turn off alerts in settings.

I had the same annoyance and I am aware of the option to uncheck alerts. My
question is by uncheckling these alerts, does that mean everything will be
allowed or will they still be blocked and I just won't see the pop-up giving
me an option to block or not? My objective is to block everything I am asked
about because I never know what they are for.

This extract is from the Help file but I don't recall seeing the
'additional check box' which instructs MSASpyware to permanently ignore
in future.

If a Security Agent Finds Spyware
If one of the checkpoints of a Security Agent detects a suspicious
activity, analyzes it, and determines that it is a known spyware
threat, the Security Agent displays an alert window in the bottom right
corner of your Windows desktop. The alert displays the details of the
detected threat and suggests possible actions to take. The actions in
most cases will be either to ignore the threat or perform a threat
inoculation. If you choose to ignore the threat, there is an additional
check box you can select to add the threat to your permanent ignored
spyware list. If you do this, each time a Security Agent detects this
threats activities it is ignored.
