MS Anti Sptware and IE 6

Hi

Just built a new PC; installed XP pro and service pack 2;
installed AVG Anti Virus; set up broadband connection
(BT, in the UK); updated AVG, and XP from the update
centre. No problems. Full AVG scan was clean (as you
would expect). Downloaded MS Anti spyware and updated,
did full scan - no problems found. Rebooted the machine
and IE would not work.

Uninstalled MS Anti Spyware and IE works again.

Anyone come across this before? If so can you point me in
the right direction please.

Regards

Please describe the "would not work" behavior. How many pages did you try?
What was the result?

Sorry, that wasn't very descriptive was it!

I can not remember the exact error message (very
helpful!) however I could not access any pages on the
web.

Broadband was not connecting.

I am not at home until Wednesday evening (GMT) so will
try to recreate the problem then, and re-post with more
details.

try to uninstall MSAS and check if IE if it works if it
doesn't work maybe there's something gone wrong when you
installed the Window xp Pro and service pack. i recommend
you to find SETUPERR.LOG by using window search, so you
could see if there's problem when you installed the os.

Hi

After reading the advice given (thank you), I decided to
reinstall MSAS; and did this after a full AV scan, reboot
and downloading a fresh version of MSAS (what did we do
before broadband?).

Only difference this time - I disconnected from broadband
and closed my AV client.

Works a treat after reboot and everything is ok. Not
sure why it works this time and not previously. I
suppose the moral of the story is to try again.

Thanks once again for your help.
