When Product Activation fails, select the option to "activate by telephone".
This will put you in touch with a Microsoft representative who will issue
a new product activation code (free-of-charge).
Kenn;
The phone number for your region is displayed when you are at the
appropriate screen.
At that screen you will also have a series of numbers you need to give
Microsoft before Microsoft can activate your computer.
If you do not get that screen, what exactly do you get?
Is this copy of Windows originally with this computer?
I bought a used laptop which came with XP already loaded.
Unfortunately, he kept the disk. With XP loaded, the puter
still had files on it from his use. I deleted and changed
what I could but couldn't get all of them. So, I bought XP
and loaded it hoping it woould wipoe out his ID files and
prompt me for mine. No such luck and, I did not get phone
numbers, probably because XP was already on there. Even
took it to a shop and they couldn't change it without
starting over.
That's why I'm asking for a phone number which has been
graciously supplied by Nick.
Thanks, kenn
