MS Access or SQL Server?

As far as security (with remote use in mind) which is more secure against
hackers, etc...... MS Access database or SQL Server database? I've read so
much about SQL security issues with hackers, but not read about the same
issues for Access. I currently have our database in Access, but thinking
about converting the backend to SQL -- then going "remote" for our satelite
offices. Which is safer, say for example when using a VPN? Access? or SQL
Server 2000?

SQL Server will be more secure than Access/Jet. And trying to use Access
over a VPN connection - regardless of the speed - is simply an exercise in
frustration. Access security, even properly applied, can be hacked easily,
assuming your malicious user wants to shell out $200-$300 USD for one of the
many utilities floating around the net. Hacking SQL Server is more
difficult, and you can make it more difficult to get to the actual
datastore. Thus, SQL Server is (a) more secure and (b) much more suitable
for a VPN connection.
