MRURun list clears when reboot

It used to remember my runlist when I reboot.

Nor the run list gets amnesia when I reboot.

How to fix? I see registry routines to clear it, but that is what I
don't want.

Carl,

There is no setting in XP that clears the RunMRU at every restart. It has to do with a third-party tweak program like FreshUI, Tweak UI for 9x systems etc.

Click Start/Run and type MSCONFIG
Select the Startup tab to see if there is a similar program loading.

Another possibility is that the "ClearRecentDocsOnExit" value is set to 1 in the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

I've observed that it clears the Recent documents history, as well as the RunMRU.

Try setting the "ClearRecentDocsOnExit" value to 0.

If you have Tweak UI, uncheck "Clear document history on exit" in the "Explorer" section.

I don't have any of those tools.

I also don't have a key or value like ...ClearRecent...
In fact, I have no ...\Policies\explorer key, but I do have:
....Explorer\RecentDocs
with HEX data I can't decipher. Lot's of data.

At the end I see a key "Value" = MRUListEx with it's value = a very long
HEX string.
It is followed by a key RunMRU which has a Value MRUList.
That is the command list.

Now that I have some search arguments, I am off to play.
