I have been reading all the fixes for mpg2 in PP. I have a mpg2 file that
plays fine in WMP, using a codec from WinDVD. The file won't play in
mplay32, and thus of course is black in PP. So how do I fix this. The
WinDVD codec seems to be the one that allows it to play in WMP, why won't in
play in mplay32. Please advise. Using new Sony Vaio and PP 2003. Many
thanks.

You don't say where the mpg2 comes from? Can I assume it is a rip from a
DVD?

No, it came from a mindv tape that was edited with either a pinnacle edition
program and compressed to mpg2. I fully realize that I can recompress the
original material, but this would be very time consuming for the large number
of clips I was using. Incidentally, all these clips played fine on my old
laptop which was runing PPxp. The odd thing is that I can't get the windvd
codec to synch into pp.

Is it possible for you to email me a small sample of the files? I can take
a peek at it's inner workings and let you know where the problem is.
